Import Guide: Latvia
Not available at checkout yet. Sawasdeal's Latvia Market is Draft. This legal-information page does not confirm a shipping service, rate or product admissibility.
Last reviewed: 23 September 2026. This guide covers key controls for individual online orders sent from Thailand to Latvia. A paid order is a commercial B2C transaction, not a gift or traveller allowance. Rules can change and this is not an exhaustive legal opinion.
Important: Latvia is in the EU customs and product-safety framework. Courier Post Plus DDP can arrange transport and import charges, but it does not supply an EU importer or responsible person and does not replace product approvals, registrations, certificates or compliant labels.
Food and agricultural goods
Ordinary shelf-stable plant-based packaged food may be possible after checking ingredients, additives, allergens, nutrition and destination-language information. Meat, dairy and other animal-origin ingredients, seafood, eggs, honey and composite foods have separate entry conditions and may require approved countries or establishments, certificates, private attestations, border controls or an EU food-business importer. Plants, seeds, fresh produce, some dried plant materials and plant-based handicrafts can require a phytosanitary certificate or may be prohibited. A small parcel or low weight is not a general exemption.
Cosmetics, personal care, supplements and medicines
A cosmetic placed on the EU market needs an EU-established responsible person, a safety assessment and product information file, compliant ingredients and labelling, and CPNP notification before sale. Food supplements remain foods and can have national notification, composition and language requirements. Products presented as treating or preventing illness may be medicines; online medicine rules differ by Member State. Sawasdeal should not offer Thai inhalers, therapeutic balms, medicines or cosmetics to Latvia until the exact classification and required EU or national compliance route are documented.
Other consumer products
Most non-food consumer goods are subject to the EU General Product Safety Regulation and any product-specific rules. An EU responsible economic operator, traceability, manufacturer and responsible-person contact details, safety information and warnings may be required in the online offer and on the product or packaging. Toys, electronics, radio equipment, batteries and other regulated goods can also require CE conformity or other technical documentation.
Products outside the routine parcel route
Do not offer narcotics, weapons, ammunition, explosives, counterfeit or pirated goods, protected wildlife or plant products without CITES documents, or controlled cultural objects. Alcohol, tobacco and nicotine products are excise-controlled. Aerosols, perfume, flammable liquids, loose batteries and other dangerous goods require separate carrier acceptance and compliant packing; destination legality alone is not enough.
Customs, VAT and local requirements
Goods and value must be declared accurately. Import VAT, customs duty and carrier processing depend on classification, origin, value and the service used. National rules can add language, supplement-notification, medicine, excise and market-surveillance requirements. Check Latvia customs and the relevant product authority before enabling a product at checkout.
