Thai Tea vs Matcha: Which One Should You Buy?
Compare Thai-tea brewing mixes, instant milk tea, matcha powders and latte mixes, then explore the current product choices by format.
Orange Thai milk tea, Thai green milk tea and matcha latte can all be iced milk drinks, but they begin with different products. Choose the tea ingredient before choosing the colour of the finished glass.
Compare the preparation
| Sawasdeal example | Product type | Preparation and tools |
|---|---|---|
| ChaTraMue Red Label 400 g | Thai tea brewing mix. | Brew in hot water and strain; add milk and sweetener separately if wanted. |
| ChaTraMue Thai Green Tea Mix 200 g | Thai green tea brewing mix. | Brew and separate the tea with a strainer; finish as directed on the pack. |
| Kawami 100% Uji Matcha 40 g | Matcha powder. | Disperse the powder in liquid, typically by whisking; do not treat it as loose tea to strain out. |
Which one fits your drink?
- Choose Red Label when you want the orange Thai-tea style and control over the milk addition.
- Choose the Thai Green Tea Mix when you want the corresponding Thai green-milk-tea style. It is not a substitute label for pure matcha.
- Choose the 100% Uji matcha product when you want a matcha-based drink and are happy to mix the powder thoroughly.
For matcha, follow the Kawami pack’s own dose and preparation instructions. A method from another brand can explain the whisking technique without establishing this product’s exact formula.
Compare finished drinks fairly
Milk, sugar, ice and cup size change the finished drink. Judge those separately from the tea itself. The green colour of a glass does not identify its ingredients, and it does not establish a health advantage or a particular caffeine quantity.
More Thai-tea and matcha choices
The table above uses one example of each type; it is not the full flavour or pack-size range. The links below also include Extra Gold brewing sachets, two instant ChaTraMue packs, the other Kawami matcha powder and ready-mixed matcha lattes from Ranong, OSK and Equal.
A matcha latte mix is not 100% matcha powder, and an instant milk-tea mix is not a loose brewing tea. Use each product’s own ingredients and preparation directions; the three examples above do not provide a shared recipe for all these choices.
